Grrr..Pirates

I do believe I've found more costume roleplay things to add to my wardrobe than anything else this month, and today is no exception.

BareRose for the win. Usually hats take a bit of tinkering for me but this one was a perfect fit and came with the outfit.

BTW - Best eye patch EVER!

Although boots do come with the outfit - I prefer my nifty extra super duper pirate boots from J's (loose fit boots).

Something Special to Do:

Today's explorations will take me to Burning Life - 20 sims and it's only up this week. If you haven't visited, you may arrive and wonder what all the excitement is about. Well, everyone defines art in their own special way. In sl folks were encouraged to grab a bit of land (put up by the Lindens) and build something artistic. Some tried to convey an idea or maybe make a statement. Others made something simply beautiful or even funny, so don't be put off by the helter skelter mish mash of stuff. Take your time and take a friend.

Many of the Burning Life projects used tons of sculpties, so slow down, let things rez - you'll be glad you did.

I could have mentioned the rl Burning Life, but most of us have not been to it. For us, this is the rl event.

Hawaiian

It's been such a busy rl weekend but I did want to take the time to find a little something special to wear.

You know, something playful that would make me feel graceful and sexy - so take a look at this beautiful, traditional Hawaiian Hula Dress.

I swear the girly feeling you get at a concert doing a soft swaying dance is sooo worth it!

Hmm.. maybe it's time to get out and see if there are any fun, new beaches in world.

Till next time!

Hot and Sweaty

This outfit has soo many possibilities for me. Well - I know, it was made for a man - but I have this thing about blacksmiths:)

Back in the day, women rarely practiced this trade. Well, maybe if their husband was a blacksmith and...he was ill, or needed free help (and there was no apprentice) or he died:) .

Of course blacksmiths even in modern times don't wear gloves. You see, a blacksmith needs to be able to judge the heat of the metal not only by the color of the metal, but also by touch. On the other hand, since I do love gloves, I decided - what the hell, I'm wearing them!

The hair was absolutely perfect for a period female blacksmith. I like the messy look of this one. The little tendrils add to the whole picture of hard work and sweat.

The nice western boots complete the look. Be sure you go into appearance mode and shorten your pants....also, make the pants as slim as you can get.

On a different topic, i was finally able to update all my places links on the right. It's amazing how quickly places change in sl. Whew!

Places Places Places:

On a side note - first impressions mean alot to me when selecting places to recommend. Sim owners, please, STOP littering the landing areas with ads! I understand you want to sell something but keep the stuff in appropriate areas -- your scaring your visitors! Landing areas set the tone for the entire sim.

Enough bitching, it's time to explore. One or two of these may have been around for awhile (like Mar Vista), but there's something about it that makes it worth a second look. Besides, I wanted the lm handy so I had to ad it:)

Darklands Cemetary - small - but pretty in a gothic way:)
The Siren's Grotto - not too large, not too small, nice place to Salsa.
Kon Tiki Halloween Wonderland @ Bear Country
Mar Vista Architectural Reconstruction - Gregory Ain (1948) - art in architecture -
Wicked Paradise - romance
Hipville Halloween
Enchanted Kingdom - explore
Club SLeazy Haunted House
Second Cinema Movie Theater - Two theaters right next door to each other with weekly features - Ok - This one goes on my profile picks!
The Love Bugg Haunted House

Dots!

This is such a fun look.

It's simple, and the dress is an incredible $1L. Cant beat that. For retro, 1-800 Bettie's always has some fun stuff.

The halter shape of the top really emphasizes the 50's look, I have to admit, the red trim makes the look pop! Yay for bare backs:)) - it makes me feel pretty.

I'm not sure how long the price will be around on this one - so go get it now at 1-800 Bettie's.

Be sure you slip on your avi system skirt shape. If you don't have one - not to worry. Save your shape exactly as it is right now and call it something like Rachel, then go into appearance and slim down your hips and flatten your butt a bit. save your shape again but call it something like Skinny Rachel.

Accessories - The earrings and bangles come with it, and the seamed stockings at Insolence was a no brainer.

Thank goodness for Blaze. I had the devil of a time finding just the right shade of shoes. Check it out - they have mod pumps. Thank you thank you thank you!! (I did tint it a tiny bit darker)

Shoes - Blaze* Classic Pumps, red silk
Dress - 1-800 Bettie's - Halter Dress - White Dots
Hair - Tousled Lucy Onyx
Skin - Fleur Vivant Buff Basic Red 3
Seamed Stockings - Light Grey Seamed Stockings by INSOLENCE
Manicure - the Body Politik - Skin Deep Deep Red Manicure
Lashes - SLink Thick Lashes (these are new for me)

Well, time to get out and see what my friends are up to!

Exploring With and Without your Partner

So here it is - Sunday morning and it's already been a good weekend.

I dared my partner (ok - maybe he doesn't show in my profile as partner, but he is:)) to enter a roleplay sim and make sure the coast was clear before I took the plunge.

I have a basic concern that I may pop into a roleplay area and be instantly gunned down. So, unarmed, he took the plunge. A few moments later he sent for me and off we went (without observer titles) to explore. The first person we met (the local police) didn't seem terribly informative.

I do seem to have a wicked case of ADD at times and at that point decided to zip out to find a more receptive environment. The idea being we would split up and find a perfect spot (cuz that's what we all seek on the sl grid) and then send for the other.

So as I went about exploring other sims, he decided to slip on the titler and continue where he was. I have come to the conclusion that men traveling alone in sl are true magnets for trouble. Kairos (my guy) is no exception.

Very quickly a lady crosses his path and wants to take him to met her um..group. You know, every role play is full of these kinds of groups. Soooo - he innocently follows her to a place where he would encounter a group women who are very clear. They think he's "hawt". Oh yes - he was iming me and keeping me well informed:). Now, I don't quite know how this happened but he was assigned a lovely mentor and off he went to her "special place" or "home" whatever you want to call it. Ah - at this point he knows she is indeed a vampire....

I must say I love it when he shares his adventures with me. While I was off watching two lizard men fight, he was off mingling with female vampires.

Remember, a sense of humour is a required trait when exploring roleplay sims. Someday soon I'll have to do a places list on the wickedest roleplay areas, but for now take a look at these interesting sites:

Galonge
Tempura Island - for peace..but go north for a beautiful ballroom - take a date!
Garden of Dreams
Splitsville - just for fun
Nayeli - come on....ride the butterfly.. romantic
Nakama - for fun
Fantasy World
Capitol Hill
Rivet Town - Victorian/Steampunk Role Play (4 beautiful sims!!)

For those fashionistas out there, take a look at what I'm wearing today - I found it on Black Swan. One of my very favorite designers made it - Nef!! (from Ivalde's)

She pays such close attention to detail. Although you can easily get 3 looks out of all the pieces in the box, this is the look I chose to show off. Please keep in mind that I am also wearing a special skin found also on Black Swan, it has a feathered tatoo. That is the mark your seeing between the top of the bodice and the jacket/bolero at the top of my breast.

The dress has the perfect sculpted bustle and the gloves pull the look together for me. The part that initially caught my eye on the sales poster, was the skirt - check out the trim along the hemline. It's one of those girly girl accents that I love. For a different look - just take off the skirt - you'll be amazed at the pants and cuffs beneath it all. I figured I'd be pushing my luck with too many photos so I narrowed down my look and didn't show you all your options.

I decided to accent it all with some simple black pearl earings and the soft fun updo. Ah! the hair!! New realease at ::69:: called Miracle. If you zoom in close you can see the color changing bow on top. I truely appreciate when a designer takes the time to make color changing simple for everyone and this hair is a snap.

Hair - ::69:: miracle, upstairs, in the back
Dress - Ivalde, only at Black Swan, Githa
Skin - ::Tuli:: Black Swan, ~ smoke
Earrings - Caroline's Black Pearl Earring
Shoes - TESLA -*birth* on Black Swan

Well, I'm off again to explore and build -

India with Style

I figured it was time to do something a bit global. Through my SL travels I've found some very nice outfits that show Indian fashion at it's very best.

From the simple purple dress to the more ornate look of the red and gold, it's time to appreciate the colors and styles of India!

These dresses are from different designers and I do wish they were a bit more mod but they do fit beautifully. I just love the jeweled colors of India .

Honestly, the fashion divas of SL would be willing to try a wider variety of cultural looks if demos of the dresses were available.

Red and Gold:
Dress - {Zaara} ZC red riot dupatta
Hair - .: mela's :. chignon with colorchange comb - black
Skin - Fleur Vivant Bronze Paon 2
Eyes - *Sin Skins* Intense Chocolate/Gold Eyes
Jewelry - {Zaara} ZC : Suvarna
Shoes - Lassitude Signature sandal - brown & gold, can't be seen in the photos but work perfectly -

The cherry on top is of course, the jewelry. By now I figure you've noticed I don't were it a lot. This set is an exception. It can all be bought as a set ..or not, but let me worn you, once you put on the nose ring you will fall in love and wish you'd bought the big box!

Purple:
Dress
- Mashooka, :MD: Gharara Nandu {purple} Such beautiful colors and I love the way it shows off the skin but still has a very innocent look.
Hair - Maitreya, Eva-more - Pitch
Skin - Curio - :GP: Luster-Nightshade - An absolutely perfect skin for this dress!
Eyes - *Sin Skins* Intense II Light Violet eyes (med) - gives it all such a vibrant look.

When selecting a skin, try to get the lip colors to work with the dress. It pulls the look together.

Now I'm off to see if I can find a Taj Mahall in Second Life:)

50's Cocktails

I just love it when retro/vintage items are released.

This absolutely exquisite release over at Ivalde has such a sense of style and grace. Nef has paired up this creamy rich antik fabric with accents of red. This is a great combination that really works!

The embroidery on the heart shaped bodice makes me sigh..it's gorgeous. Of course the satin pleated sach and red trim underskirt gives it just the perfect touch!

It comes with the gloves! Yay! classy and sexy:)

Dress - Ivalde, Ashwyn antik&red - It comes in 4 beautiful colors antik/red, white/black, white/blue, and white/green

Skin - Fleur Boutique Lily Shoujo Black Swan 3. I strongly recommend you select a skin that has a nice red lipstick to go with this look - this one was perfect!

Shoes - Maitreya, Slinky Stilettos Patent Red

Hair - >TRUTH< Antie - Raven
