OH Cr@p!!

Ever have one of those moments. Someone sends you an im:

"uh, I think I just trashed your sim"

I text back "haha - no you didn't"

"uh..the mountains are missing"

ok - be right there.........

Well crap!! I sold es0 a tiny bit of land. Could she have had the power to wipe out the land all over the Sim? I have given her no special powers but DANG!! She was right.

She had attempted to edit her little plot of land and hit the revert button. In the process the entire Sim was affected. This meant all my mountains, caves and even the lake were gone..things had come flying back to my inventory. The place was trashed.

I panicked and issued a support ticket for a rollback. But after 24 hours still nothing from the Lindens. I am contemplating a rebuild. So due to the store being blocked by a stray mountain, I am closing the Sim for a few days while I straighten this out or rebuild. If you are in my group or on my friends list, you do have access, but please be patient.

Please note how gracefully the trees and rocks float on the air.

Down on the Farm

How about a little farm roleplay?

A little role play never hurt anyone. I don't think I've looked for farms in the game yet, but no better time than the present:)

So I began my quest. Let's see, I need bib overalls. None of those shorty short girlie overalls Noooo...I wanted something that would fit the fantasy a bit better. I went to classified, typed in overalls and off I went, to find the best in SL.

Grrr - I hate when it's a mall and I have to hunt for the dang things.

Lisa's had overalls, but too girly so I passed on that pair.

I found 5 pair. My intent is not to critic other peoples work, but to find the best. Let's take a closer look shall we?

#1 - Hell Bop - Walter - Bib Overalls, and for the shirt i went to Artilleri, (Darla in red). The bib may be worn up or down which could certainly add to your role playing fun:)

# 2 - NoLabel, the Lucky Overall in black and the shirt was from Elephant Outfitters (Sailor Striped Sweater Top). I just loved the sculpted legs! Notice how the pants fold sweetly over my shoes. Yay! This designer is worth keeping an eye on:)

#3 - This outfit is nice but no sculpties or removable bibs. These pants are a bit more of an older SL style, but the overalls are nice and this means it has something newer outfits seem to no longer have...the ability to transfer! This overall is from Crucial Creations and the shirt from an older out fit of mine - Luminosity, Triest.

#4 - I think these are the overalls I see most often (from BareRose). Unfortunately they don't have a bib up bib down option. The legs are the simple standard pant legs ...but I do adore the little dangly bits on the bib. It was tougher to find a shirt that worked for me as the ones it came with would'nt fit in with the roleplay I had in mind:) This one is the {Gisaci} Classic Cashmere Turtleneck.

#5 - I swear the ad said it was blue but they tend to look purple to me. Try a close up on this one. This is another no frills basic set but it has the basic style and it transfers! Bailers Outfitters for this one. The shirt is again the Darla from Artilleri (in pink).

HAIR - The was a new one from my place. It has a playful look that I couldn't resist. Go to [V] Vignette and try on the Minx.

Ok, now comes the exploring. It's time to head off and look for farms. There's bound to be one with just the right mood for a little roleplay.

A big strapping farm boy who knows how to work hard....yep - I could get into that!

Till next time!!

Warm Glow with Grable Hair!!

I love the holidays in Second Life. Everyone is so thoughtful. The scavenger hunts remind me how generous everyone can be here.

This dress is not free but I couldn't resist showing it. The dress is a 1930s creation and the hair is a bit more 40s but I couldn't resist putting them together.

The dress is Ambre from Ivaldes in yellow, which is not usually my color, but dang, it works here!

The gentle shadowed folds soften the look and the bit of white right over the buttons gives the dress a flirty look.

Of course I decided to go with seemed stockings from Insolence and the Solace Black shoes from Maitreya. You'll notice the tips of my shoes are a bit more shadowed - that's because of the stocking which has a darker toe. I forgot what they call that part of the stocking, but I like the vintage look of it:)

HAIR! WHOOHOOO! I made another hair this week. Betty Grable always managed to pull off this style, so why not me?

In SL we all size our own heads and generally my head is between 40 - 50 on the slider. I do crank it up to 50 to make the hair and am trying to make sure most heads between 40 - 60 will have minimal resizing issues.

It comes in tons of colors so stop by and try out the demo!

Dress - Ivalde, Ambre yellow

When RL and SL Collide

As I googled this week I stumbled onto my sisters blog. I didn't even know she had one, so I mentioned it to her and then she asked "Do YOU have a blog". Sooo....I mentioned this one.

After work I turned on SL and 2 minutes later I get this im from what I thought was a complete stranger. "It's me" Well, heck we all get them. Everytime our sl friends make a new alt.... so it took me a second to catch on.

Ohhhh...es0 is my rl sister! So then I paused and thought oh noooo..she'll read my profile. How do I explain Kairos to her? How do I make her realize SL is not JUST a sexual playground? To me it's great art, good music, a coloring book, Barbies and good friends. I wanted her to see the creative possibilities.

Much to my surprise she didn't seem at all taken aback. She is determined to build. So I pushed her to get hair, and an ao. I don't know if she needs skin shopping, she seems to have found a nice free one on her own. Then I gave her a place in my sky to live and build. Next come sl classes.

It has actually been fun showing her things. I had forgotten how difficult the learning curve was here. She has even met Kairos now and they seem just fine. *Whew*

In rl she makes beautiful jewelry and is a creative perfectionist. I am looking forward to watching her grow and build. I hope for some vintage beadwork out of it at some point:).

Well, I also wanted to share this trim vintage 1940s dress with you from Ivalde. The collar is soft and warm and the hand drawn details are just what this look needs. I also like the simple finish on the hem.

As you look at the back of the dress check out the details on the zipper. It just doesn't get better than that. As for the cherry on top...I would say the ass. The shading is perfect!!! A nice worn look that accents the curves - gotta have it!

Dress - Ivalde, Lauretta

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

This is one of the hairs I just finished making-- so of course I was gonna wear it today! I absolutely love it. Stop by and try the demo at Vignette.

This new release at Ingenue is all about retro fun. The sweater feels seductive and the pants are my favorite style (high waisted). The sweater may be worn both tucked or untucked for a whole different look. this outfit is affordable and well worth it.

I am completely stumped..is this 1940's, 50's or even early 60's? Well, shoot - unless someone gives me a better idea, I'll out it under retro.

Bettie Page had Style!

Thought I would take a few minutes out of my ETD sale shopping and show off this little 1940's Bettie Page look.

This bold red white and blue dress has some beautiful hand drawn details! Check out the small blue bow at the neck - it gives it such a sweet innocent look and the red buttons are a stand out! I must admit the slim fitted waist is flawless (I do have a fondness for system skirts). The colors are fun, bold and will make you stand out in a crowd! This dress is a keeper.

I did go with a Bettie Page hair (bangs which are trim and stand out).

Cherries and Chocolate

Absolutely luscious - like Cherries and Chocolate - Yum!

This 1950's style is one of Nef's new releases over at Ivaldes. If you haven't seen her latest - you need to.

These beautiful new pumps over at Shiny Things are just perfect with the brown Cosette - and look close at that sweet bow - It can be changed to 11 different colors!! I could have changed the bow to pink with just a click! Woohoo! These shoes have a great retro feel to them!

Hair - ETD's Vasha in Espresso, it feels shiny, silky, and soft. It even seems to have a highlight that works especially well with this dress.

As for skin, Gala has a Brownie skin that was the perfect fit! A nice neat manicure in brown and brown pearls (white tinted brown) and the outfit was complete!

40's Class

Thought I would drop in and show this 1940's new release from Ivalde's.

I'm a sucker for a great system skirt and this one is incredible! The 1940s had such..passion and class. Yay Nef - you captured the feel of the times beautifully!

This hair style is a keeper for me. Thank goodness there are hair shops in sl who do such a great job with vintage looks.

Even these heels have a classic look that works well with the 40's.

Now for the new Allure skin (which I did buy a ton of). It is absolutely beautiful.

I haven't figured out the best way to highlight the skin tones yet in blog photos, but it's just a matter of time. I did try the light in the accessory box and my guy sat up and noticed:)

Unfortunately, the combo of the Muse settings and the face light didn't work for me. So - just use one or the other.

Autumn

In honor of this orange time of year, I couldn't resist showing this one off.

This lovely dress is incredibly feminine. What a great combination of colors. The many oranges and yellows are sure to put you in the mood for fall. I must say, the highlights in the hair and the rich darker color of the shoes make this look a keeper!

Tonight, I'm in the mood for some roleplay. I, Rachel Boram plan to dress like a man and pick up my sweetie (Kairos) who will be dressed as a woman. The object of the game is simple - He seems to always attracts a certain type of woman. Seems I was the one exception. I plan to role play him and show him how he enables that type of behavior in a woman.

So keep your fingers crossed that I don't mess this one up:)

For those of you who have not made your evening plans - check out these places:

Wein - This will go in my new people places. Yesh, like shopping at a flea market with tons of give-a-ways.
Ice Age - a nice little romantic place to dance.
Thursday's Fiction - I would love to see this project completed.
Dodge City, KS 1875 - 22 sims
The Crack Den - Mature Role Play for those who play dangerously
Raining Pleasure <3>- this is the kind of small place you go to for peace
Spacexcape Project - this project just may be smarter than me
GALONGE - explore!
Mystique Romance

Wait!!

Have you had a chance to check out all your hunt goodies yet? I slipped on this one and absolutely squealed with delight! Talk about a great Halloween freebie....

This one is from the Retrology Hunt:

Thanks you soooo much to Betty Doyle at Ingenue. I am finally into the Halloween spirit.

The cosy sweater sets the season... and the orange petticoat gives it all such a festive playful look.

Every once-in-awhile, I'll find something (not fashion) that catches my eye. Take a peek at the two smaller photos. This is such a great sculptie pumpkin set. You can place them individually or as a set. Wish I had made them. Honestly, I was using 120 prims on Vignette for a small pumpkin patch. This set is only 13 prim...and copies...for the most luscious pumpkins ever!

The tree (comes from the same shop), comes with the pumpkin set beneath it..and the it has tiny lights coming from it(all for only 15 prims).

Hair - >FD Hair< (Frangipani), Josephine - Copper
Dress - Retrology pumpkin hunt - Ingenue pumpkin (freebie - it's worth the hunt!)
Shoes - Maitreya Slinky Stiletto, black
Manicure - The Body Politik, Deep Orange Peel, (If Polly is reading this, please update the lm in your profile, I seem to keep landing in the back under a building..pretty pleeease)
Stockings - Dark Grey Seamed Stockings by INSOLENCE, (with a sweet seam up the back)
Skin - Curio :GP: Radiance-Russet, this one plays up those rich copper autumn colors)

Pumpkins - New Trails -
Tree Set - New Trails - I think this was a nifty gift, it showed up in my pocket about 30 min after I joined the group:). If not...wow, thanks! I must admit, I spent some $L there:)

So now that I'm feeling all girlie girl let's go snoop out more Haunted Houses on the grid:)

Busy Busy Busy

Woohoo - SALE at Ivalde with 50% off everything black /very dark and 5 black outfits are only 50L and 6 are only 100L

Well, heck! I dropped everything and ran over there!!

Much to my dismay, 53 other women beat me there. *Sighs* Ok, so I removed my witches hat and candy filled Jack-O-Lantern and inched my way in. Slowest crawl ever...really.

Certain colors are absolute favorites of mine and black is right at the top. No way was I going to not fight my way through that crowd! I picked up tons of great things and this dress was only $200L. The hat was separate and is absolutely perfect.

I could so easily see myself fitting in as a governess or young widow at a role-playing sim. Sort of Jane Eyre like. Hey - I could get into that one ....but I think I need period glasses and a book in my hand.

Vintage is MORE than Fashion!

Yup - I am a lazy woman.

Someone asked if I sold my houses and I thought dang, i should. So I've added a few things to slexchange and boxed up the structures for sell at the Vignette model homes.

So am am posting these three which are now for sale.

First is the old vintage art deco movie theater, the Romana - the boxed set is mod/copy and has some sweet seats in the theater with lots of different poses. Stop by and chick it out or take a peek on slexchange.

Second is a 1920's kit home inspired by the Sears (Walton's Rest). This one will remind you of summers at grandma's when you were a kid.

Third is Summer Delight which is also inspired by the old 1920's - 30's kit homes. Check out all that incredible detail for only 111 prim - can't beat that!

For model homes:

Romana - and on slexchange
Walton's Rest - and on slexchange

Grrr..Pirates

I do believe I've found more costume roleplay things to add to my wardrobe than anything else this month, and today is no exception.

BareRose for the win. Usually hats take a bit of tinkering for me but this one was a perfect fit and came with the outfit.

BTW - Best eye patch EVER!

Although boots do come with the outfit - I prefer my nifty extra super duper pirate boots from J's (loose fit boots).

Hair - Cake - Barcelona - Chestnut - Flexi Hair
Boots - J's LOOSEFITBOOTS
Eyes - *Sin Skins* Intense Brown/Aqua Eyes
Skin - Curio, :GP: Classic-Film Noir

Something Special to Do:

Today's explorations will take me to Burning Life - 20 sims and it's only up this week. If you haven't visited, you may arrive and wonder what all the excitement is about. Well, everyone defines art in their own special way. In sl folks were encouraged to grab a bit of land (put up by the Lindens) and build something artistic. Some tried to convey an idea or maybe make a statement. Others made something simply beautiful or even funny, so don't be put off by the helter skelter mish mash of stuff. Take your time and take a friend.

Many of the Burning Life projects used tons of sculpties, so slow down, let things rez - you'll be glad you did.

I could have mentioned the rl Burning Life, but most of us have not been to it. For us, this is the rl event.
