Where on Earth to Find Free Stuff?

#1

Suuure…go to a freebie mall at any time and grab a box of gestures, box of clothes or any other random box of freebies you can imagine. You have no clue what’s in that box but dangit, it’s free! Well, once unpacked, you usually find oh, 500 items in the box (low made up number).

None of the clothes seem to be in handly little Folders that separate complete outfits (Ugg!). All the bits seem to have been made ages ago and you have a nightmare trying to figure out what articles of clothing were meant to be used to make an outfit.

#2

Across the grid you have the “Under 30” crowd of free items. Usually an old creation of a designer. Available for avis who are under 30 days old. Good intentions, BUT - How many of you knew about this category of freeness at THAT age? Folks, the avis that get the most out of this are alts…admit it, you know it’s true.

I highly urge designers to change the 30 day standard!! Think about giving it 6 months to a year.

#3

Group Gifts (the yummy free item). The cream of the crop in the free field! I use Ivalde as an example here (yay Nef!). Here is where designers find the people who truly appreciate what they create. Of course many..MANY of us join a group, grab the free item and run like hell. Honestly, I don’t care if people do that and in fact I do understand it.

25 groups???? My groups are always at capacity with groups I just HAVE to be in (building, business and such). I only have maybe 3 floater groups and dang, no room at all for the kinky stuff!

#4

Then there are stores like mine. To be honest, I can’t think of other designers who build and give it all away. If you can think of any that give ALL items made to the community, let me know – I would love to keep a list here. I’m not talking resale old stuff either. Everything I build I know will be given away, but that doesn’t stop me from doing everything I can to make it my best work to date.

______________

As for this weeks goodies at Vignette:

I thought I would try to do a little something for the guys by way of hair. I swear I tried on 5 male shapes trying to get this hair to fit as many avis as possible. As for the ladies, I was in the mood for something warm and cosy and thought this would be a nice addition to your winter wear. Oh, and the hat changes to 9 colors on touch!

So stop by and see if it fits. If you like it.....they are all free (all colors).

Merry Christmas!

Free and Almost

I always wondered, do folks ever really read the post or is it all just about the photos?

I suppose there is one way to find out. I could mention where to find a freebie, and if people show up and snag it, I'll know they really do read them.

First for the non freebie - this amazing Panda Dress from *kataOnik*....run, don't walk to get this one for only $25L.

For a Lolita style I went with the Toasted Coconut Teddi hair at Vignette. So here's the free part: go to the store and find the subscription kiosk (this one does not count toward your 25) and join! This color is a group gift for a limited time. Don't be shy, check to see if anything is in box attached to the vendor. If you ever think you may have missed something, that's where it'll be.

Let's Cheer!!!!

Personally, I just love a good roleplay and props are crucial....no...they really are.

*Pompoms are great for waving under noses.
*Bobbysocks separate the sophisticated Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader types from the 18 - 21 yr old types...uh..sure - the college kids.
*Short skirt that flips up when you swing your hips at just the right guy.
*Last but not least, pig tails to hold onto (in the right situation:)

So go check out the team games in sl and start cheering (or jeering) as the case may be. I dare you to be the most annoying cheerleader of all time!

Hair - [V] Vignette Teddi Wintergreen

Outfit - ::: B@R ::: Cheer Leader (look among the newer release stuff in the middle of the store). BareRose outfits are always an AMAZING bargain and you always get more than you expect in the box. Green, blue, purple, red, OMGosh - This is like a 4 in one!

Shoes - PornStar Hi-Tops MultiColor v2. Yes, the might seem a tiny bit pricey but they're worth it. Touch them and you get tons of color options all rolled up into one shoe - no need for a fat pack to clutter your inventory.

Skin - :GP: Petal FREX [Light] April-Jonquil 1. I wanted something that looked natural and young.

A Taste of the 50's

50's Magic - it doesn't get better than that!

I've got about 4 stores on my "must have" list and Artilleri is one of them. The slightest hint of a release and I'm there. As you take a close look at the poodle skirt, notice all those amazing highlights and shadows (along with the way it moves when you walk) makes this one a "must have".

What a FUN pair of shoes from Jet Doll. Your 50's look wouldn't be complete without these.

Last but not least is the Jaime hair from Vignette. It gives the whole look a perky college girl feel. Jaime is only available at Hair Fair, so stop by and check out the demo. It wont be in the main store for 2 more weeks.

Hopefully now I can take the time to blog a few thing (since hair fair is underway).

Here's a taste of the 50's!

Cute Curly and Retro

Taking a break from all things hair -

I had to show off this sweet reto look from Icing. What a great way to get in the mood for July 4th! All red white and blue with a perky little sailor hat on top. I love these kinds of hats, they can pretty much set on any hair without any trouble at all.

And check out the hair - oh yes, woohoo! Made it all by myself and is only at hair fair (to be moved to the store on vignette when the fair closes). Old Shirley Temple photos inspired me on this one. Drop by hair fair and try it on.

The skin is soft and sweet thanks to Romi Juliesse!

These great red pumps at Juicy work perfectly with the outfit and yes ladies, I own this fat pack.

WooHoo!! Three NEW Releases this week.

#3 - Lola - Third is short, sassy and has atitude.

All 3 are from [V] Vignette Hair

Rich and Classy

Oh wow - Is this dress stunning or what?? Loving the deep dark red and all the little folds. This one's all about class. The gloves came with the dress and are clearly the cherry on top!

The skin from Curio will have just the perfect shade of red to work with this dress and the flushed cheeks are just perfect!

As for hair, I wanted a vintage style to complement the dress. The Grable is very detailed with it's rolls but still manages to pull off a soft look.

So get out, go shopping and have some fun this week!

Angels

Now here's a costume for you - and get this....only $130L. Diamond Angel was created by June Dion over at Barerose.

The gorgeous wings are a combination sculpty/flexi prims and are a bit translucent. Very majestic looking!

Of course the little gathered socks about my ankles also came in the box and give the whole outfit an air of flirty innocence.

The perfect silver shoes at Shiny Things and a simple updo at Vignette (in frosting) brought it all together.

Some Vintage Hair Styles are Timeless

After all the scrambling to tidy up [V]Vignette, I decided to to take a break and make hair.

I swear it was easier to make this hair than to find the little black dress she wore in the movie while standing next to that tree. Here's a second shot of it. I wanted the straight neckline and the bow tied sweetly over each shoulder. Sadly, I just couldn't find one in second life.

So.....I decided to give this lovely dress a chance and I must say I'm glad I did. The neckline ruffle is beautiful and the lacy petticoat peeking out at the hemline is the perfect touch.

The only inconvenience is it's chest attachment point. My black pearls lost the argument with the neck ruffle.:)

This is such a classy romantic dress.

Hair: [V] Vignette

Audrey was modeled after Audrey Hepburn in Sabrina (1954). Zoom in to look at the top of the head on this one. I was able to find just the right curve.

Minx is fun, contemporary and a bit disorganized.

Dress - Ingenue, Kim - Coal
Gloves - Fleur
Pearl Earrings - Caroline's Jewelry
Seamed Stockings - Insolence, light grey seamed stockings
Skin - Curio, :GP: Classic-Sienna

Off to my next project:)

Down on the Farm

How about a little farm roleplay?

A little role play never hurt anyone. I don't think I've looked for farms in the game yet, but no better time than the present:)

So I began my quest. Let's see, I need bib overalls. None of those shorty short girlie overalls Noooo...I wanted something that would fit the fantasy a bit better. I went to classified, typed in overalls and off I went, to find the best in SL.

Grrr - I hate when it's a mall and I have to hunt for the dang things.

Lisa's had overalls, but too girly so I passed on that pair.

I found 5 pair. My intent is not to critic other peoples work, but to find the best. Let's take a closer look shall we?

#1 - Hell Bop - Walter - Bib Overalls, and for the shirt i went to Artilleri, (Darla in red). The bib may be worn up or down which could certainly add to your role playing fun:)

# 2 - NoLabel, the Lucky Overall in black and the shirt was from Elephant Outfitters (Sailor Striped Sweater Top). I just loved the sculpted legs! Notice how the pants fold sweetly over my shoes. Yay! This designer is worth keeping an eye on:)

#3 - This outfit is nice but no sculpties or removable bibs. These pants are a bit more of an older SL style, but the overalls are nice and this means it has something newer outfits seem to no longer have...the ability to transfer! This overall is from Crucial Creations and the shirt from an older out fit of mine - Luminosity, Triest.

#4 - I think these are the overalls I see most often (from BareRose). Unfortunately they don't have a bib up bib down option. The legs are the simple standard pant legs ...but I do adore the little dangly bits on the bib. It was tougher to find a shirt that worked for me as the ones it came with would'nt fit in with the roleplay I had in mind:) This one is the {Gisaci} Classic Cashmere Turtleneck.

#5 - I swear the ad said it was blue but they tend to look purple to me. Try a close up on this one. This is another no frills basic set but it has the basic style and it transfers! Bailers Outfitters for this one. The shirt is again the Darla from Artilleri (in pink).

HAIR - The was a new one from my place. It has a playful look that I couldn't resist. Go to [V] Vignette and try on the Minx.

Ok, now comes the exploring. It's time to head off and look for farms. There's bound to be one with just the right mood for a little roleplay.

A big strapping farm boy who knows how to work hard....yep - I could get into that!

Till next time!!

Warm Glow with Grable Hair!!

I love the holidays in Second Life. Everyone is so thoughtful. The scavenger hunts remind me how generous everyone can be here.

This dress is not free but I couldn't resist showing it. The dress is a 1930s creation and the hair is a bit more 40s but I couldn't resist putting them together.

The dress is Ambre from Ivaldes in yellow, which is not usually my color, but dang, it works here!

The gentle shadowed folds soften the look and the bit of white right over the buttons gives the dress a flirty look.

Of course I decided to go with seemed stockings from Insolence and the Solace Black shoes from Maitreya. You'll notice the tips of my shoes are a bit more shadowed - that's because of the stocking which has a darker toe. I forgot what they call that part of the stocking, but I like the vintage look of it:)

HAIR! WHOOHOOO! I made another hair this week. Betty Grable always managed to pull off this style, so why not me?

In SL we all size our own heads and generally my head is between 40 - 50 on the slider. I do crank it up to 50 to make the hair and am trying to make sure most heads between 40 - 60 will have minimal resizing issues.

It comes in tons of colors so stop by and try out the demo!

Happy Thanksgiving to All!

This is one of the hairs I just finished making-- so of course I was gonna wear it today! I absolutely love it. Stop by and try the demo at Vignette.

This new release at Ingenue is all about retro fun. The sweater feels seductive and the pants are my favorite style (high waisted). The sweater may be worn both tucked or untucked for a whole different look. this outfit is affordable and well worth it.

I am completely stumped..is this 1940's, 50's or even early 60's? Well, shoot - unless someone gives me a better idea, I'll out it under retro.

Hair - [V] Vignette, Betty - Cake Batter
Outfit - Ingenue - Hold me, Squeeze Me
Skin - Laqroki ~ Emily 01 milky

Wow - I Made Hair!

Wow - I made hair!

This is what I've been up to for the last few weeks. Making hair. What does it take to make hair?

* textures
* how to build
* creativity
* patience
* omgosh - dyeing how many colors?
* photoshop

I would be tickled if you would stop by and try on the demos. This is a huge learning process for me.
