Vintage is MORE than Fashion!

Yup - I am a lazy woman.

Someone asked if I sold my houses and I thought dang, i should. So I've added a few things to slexchange and boxed up the structures for sell at the Vignette model homes.

So am am posting these three which are now for sale.

First is the old vintage art deco movie theater, the Romana - the boxed set is mod/copy and has some sweet seats in the theater with lots of different poses. Stop by and chick it out or take a peek on slexchange.

Second is a 1920's kit home inspired by the Sears (Walton's Rest). This one will remind you of summers at grandma's when you were a kid.

Third is Summer Delight which is also inspired by the old 1920's - 30's kit homes. Check out all that incredible detail for only 111 prim - can't beat that!

What's Up?

Well - this past week I've been up at the workshop hammering and pinning upholstery. I was going for a lush vintage set, something that would bring out the diva in all of us:)

Sooo..I figured it was time to put my newest project in the store (Vignette).

1920's/Depression Schoolhouse

Hey!! A school house with character, really! This quaint 1920's school house could easily fit into other eras. It was modeled after the real thing. It's all mod and copy - so have some fun with it!

Schoolhouse: it has 2 rooms - I like to think of one room for the class and the other perhaps for administration or a lab. The center wall separates the 2 rooms but I have left a small space at the top of the wall to allow for easy camera maneuvers. The front and back entry ways to the school have great steps which would allow for a variety of scenarios. Come out and see the place before you buy if you like! (117 prim). Desks:
The box includes 7 desks - all with a different pose. These old desks were meant to hold 2 students each, but in mosts of the desks i have placed one pose and you are encouraged to find another fun pose in sl to go next to it. (21 prim each and worth it) Take a look at the photos - the benches are built in. These may be bought at Vignette at 100L$ ea, but in this packet you get all 7 for some variety. A teachers desk in not included.

Presidents:
Oh yes - had to have them - but they are removable. They go up to President Coolidge (2 prim)

Chalkboard - great eye candy! It is not scripted but adds tons of personality and sets a great mood. (3 prim)

This package is the whole deal. whether setting up for a student class or adult education / continuing education classes, this set should be looked at. $800L for everything listed above is a real deal:)

Vintage School house at Vignette

*Squeels* A 1L$ dress

Just for today - this lovely 1940's Bonnie in Berry travel dress is only 1L$!!! Thank you Betty Doyle! The texture on this dress is soo detailed and the little bitty hat perched on my head is what makes this outfit complete.

1 Edit your hair - it isn't that freaking hard! Start by making a backup.
2 This hair was a bit easier to edit. I rt clicked the hair, and selected edit.
3 From there go to the Objects tab.
4 At the top of the edit box you will see several selections - you need to check the "edit linked parts" then select a curl that is peeking thru your hat - click on that curl!
5 Look at the rt column in the middle you will see something that says "Path cut begin and end" you see the B and the E with up and down arrows next to them.
6 Go to the E down arrow and one click at a time trim back that curl till it is just under the hat!
6 THEN start again by selecting a different curl. it is very simple - if you have never tried to edit your hair - this is the one to learn on!!!

Just do it!

In the not so free items i am wearing in this ensemble - is the skin which i was happy to find at the skin fair. Gala Phoenix has done it again - beautiful new skins. This group was very real but some had a dramatic feel also. I choose this sweet simple skin with very little makeup (called Classic-Pure). If you are brave enough to crawl with the crowd at Skin Fair - it is worth it.

In keeping with a simple look - the shoes are from Maitreya - a nice solace Brown Dark pair of sandals - i think they have a bit of a retro feel.

The 1940s hair is also Ingenue, Torch Song in in a natural black.

Kitchen Work of the 1920's

Seems I've settled into the 1920's these days. A have completed a few excellent kitchen pieces that i am very proud to show off!!

I work around old thing things everyday at my RL job so to come here and recreat such beautiful things is such a pleasure.

I wanted so badly to create a specific Chamber's range but unfortunately, it belongs to a different decade. So it is another project i look forward to another day:)

At this time my plan is to make a small 1920's house to furnish as it would have been almost a hundred years ago. It is a major project! One of my biggest obstacles in creating the house will be the walls, believe it or not - they had very tiny rooms in the 20's. This could create problems moving about in the home so some compromises will need to be made.

Well - off to build a house!!

Vignette - New Stuff!

After a month of planting trees and setting up cuddles, cabins and a new set of furniture, Vignette is open for visitors!

Vignette – Yes! A NEW store name. I had used the name Serendipity for a long time, but decided a change was in order. Why?? Serendipity was just about the furniture….

Vignette is not just about the furniture, but about the themes and stories behind the furniture.

As an example, I have a new Mission/Craftsman set (check out the great pictures). As I placed the furniture in the store I wondered about the year it could have been made. Pretty much anytime between 1910 and 1950, so I choose the 1930s. The accessories in the room reflect the time period.

I am very excited about the concept. As I finish up some of the 1930s decorating accessories – I will move on the other rooms and tell their stories.

I should have posted this a few days ago..sorry...really really sorry!

Wow – What a great weekend! I thought I would go ahead and do my show-and-tell thing here. The majority of things in my shop were inspired by the real thing!!















First off:
The (4) Art Deco Chairs (Circa 1935) of course come with their own poses. And the beautiful table is a Parzinger style (Circa 1950) This set fit together so beautifully.















Second: This bed reminds me of the shirt Charlie Brown wore in the comics. The Designer was Paul Frankl and the bed is made of Dark Chocolate Brown Mahogany American 1940s. The side tables (Circa 1950s) are also via a Frankl design. What is so dang great is that they are lamps too!!

What would a retro shop be without a 1950's Neo Classical Daybed USA? Simplicity at it’s best.

A Leather Frame Mirror inspired by Jaques Adnet, France 1940s. (This one is free if you can find it in the store!)

Projects Too!

Well, I almost accomplished everything i wanted to this weekend.


On the left are:
Dining chairs by Tommi Parzinger U.S.A. 1950's

Love the backs of these chairs!! Notice not only the X's but take a look at the way the fabric is attached to the very dark wood. Beautiful, simple and elegant.




Below you will see one of this weekends projects! I love the colors on this one, but the reason the original chair caught my eye was the curve. The texture is a fine, dark red leather. This one has a sensual feel to it. Side Chair in the Style of Jacques Adnet, France, 1940's
