System Skirts

System skirts must be worn very carefully.

*You must trim your butt.

*You must try to keep your legs together at all times.

It can be done. I saw this one over at Shai and noticed something a little different. The designer understands the weaknesses of the system skirt.

Textures can be a pain in the rear with system skirts but Shai Delacroix has gone out of her way to make this as painless as possible. Take a look at the black trim along the hemline. You can see the tight little corner as it goes up. This means a much trimmer look as you stand/walk. This is how a system skirt can work.

Of course the rest of the dress is absolutely stunning - from the beautiful tube top with it's clean molded look to the sash which has detailed little folds that accent the waist.

I sort of went with the Mrs. Robinson look in the Graduate. I searched for a sophisticated makeup and beehive hairdo. 1967 - Oh NOOOO...Anne Bancroft was only 36 when she made that film! CRUD - makes me feel ....old.

A Retro-Futuristic Mess

Where it counts, I'm a cardigan girl. I had dropped in over at Devotchka's store and this one jumped off the shelf at me. I just love how she describes her style on the landmark - 1/4 Life Crisis - A retro-futuristic mess. She manages to pull eye catching elements from retro and add a certain something special to it. This sweater is the cherry! There is a different sleeve style in the box but this is the one that sparkles for me:).

Such absolutely amazing detail in the sweater's embroidery.

Well, crud! You know your avi is old when some of the good stuff in your closet is discontinued. Canimal no longer carries these capris from what i can tell. They are a tad longer than most in sl which is what i needed. Capri's in the 50's and 60's were between the knee and ankle right in the middle or even a tad longer. Contemporary styles tend to fall between the shin and the knee. I know I know...what's 2 inches? (sighs)

Shesh - Armidi...went in to grab the lm for you on the flats and it was such a crawl. New releases at that sim make rezing impossible. On a positive note - love the flats!. New summer colors were put out today and be warned - they are not in the same building as these black ones are. The new colors are bright and bold and will definitely be shown in a future blog!

Being Mod

This is a Great 60's mod look!! Check out my new flip hair style and these slick shiny sculpted boots. I do wish the bottom of the boots came with the option to be brown or black, these are in brown only. Too sweet!- They sure pull off that go-go 60's look.

This fresh faced innocent look comes from Mallory Cowen over at Rac (now called Laqroki), and Lux Yao over at Amaretto created this cute little black dress. It's simple and yet it's such a classic style!

Yay! My computer is back up and running:) I did indeed loose all the textures on my hard drive, but on a positive note...it does give me a fresh start. Ok, I'm TRYING to look at the positive!

Saw this the other day and I had to get it - This fun set reminded me of the old 60's reruns. You know the ones I'm talking about. The Dick Van Dyke Show, That Girl and the early Bewitched shows all had this certain style.

Flip hair and high waisted cigarette pants/capris - it doesn't get more 60's that that! Today it would be way too much hair maintenance for me but the ladies of the time did it with such great style. This particular hair is not flexi but that doesn't seem to bother me at all. I do recall this particular look took TONS of hairspray back in the day and I'll bet theirs didn't move much either:)

I love these tight fitting, high waisted Capri's (how retro billy!). The sweater top comes with the pants and is just perfect, but you can add almost any black shirt and look great.

I also wanted to point out this great new skin from Artilleri. Woohoo for group gifts!

A New Decade

The sixties - A decade I never really bought things for. I was a baby back then but I remember the 60's mod look AND the 60's - early 70's Bohemian look.

I couldn't think of a better made 1960's outfit than this one. I know, I know...everyone blogged it. I wanted to start the 60's off with a bang.

The hardest thing for me to find in this outfit were the white boots - i wanted that shiny go go boot thing happening, but I never found just the right kind with the textures I like.

This is great hair from TRUTH. It could have been worn in the 20's, 30's, and 60's.

If you have found yourself reluctant to buy a 60's outfit, it's time to give in.
