Where on Earth to Find Free Stuff?

Suuure…go to a freebie mall at any time and grab a box of gestures, box of clothes or any other random box of freebies you can imagine. You have no clue what’s in that box but dangit, it’s free! Well, once unpacked, you usually find oh, 500 items in the box (low made up number).

None of the clothes seem to be in handly little Folders that separate complete outfits (Ugg!). All the bits seem to have been made ages ago and you have a nightmare trying to figure out what articles of clothing were meant to be used to make an outfit.

Across the grid you have the “Under 30” crowd of free items. Usually an old creation of a designer. Available for avis who are under 30 days old. Good intentions, BUT - How many of you knew about this category of freeness at THAT age? Folks, the avis that get the most out of this are alts…admit it, you know it’s true.

I highly urge designers to change the 30 day standard!! Think about giving it 6 months to a year.

Group Gifts (the yummy free item). The cream of the crop in the free field! I use Ivalde as an example here (yay Nef!). Here is where designers find the people who truly appreciate what they create. Of course many..MANY of us join a group, grab the free item and run like hell. Honestly, I don’t care if people do that and in fact I do understand it.

25 groups???? My groups are always at capacity with groups I just HAVE to be in (building, business and such). I only have maybe 3 floater groups and dang, no room at all for the kinky stuff!

Then there are stores like mine. To be honest, I can’t think of other designers who build and give it all away. If you can think of any that give ALL items made to the community, let me know – I would love to keep a list here. I’m not talking resale old stuff either. Everything I build I know will be given away, but that doesn’t stop me from doing everything I can to make it my best work to date.

As for this weeks goodies at Vignette:

I thought I would try to do a little something for the guys by way of hair. I swear I tried on 5 male shapes trying to get this hair to fit as many avis as possible. As for the ladies, I was in the mood for something warm and cosy and thought this would be a nice addition to your winter wear. Oh, and the hat changes to 9 colors on touch!

I just set out the Bow-Bow flats but wanted to add a little something special for my amazing group members.

I also wanted to thank the kind people who helped out with tips. The tips allow me to find better textures and sculpties which go into the making of all these gifts I set out.

A Gift to YOU

She said "give it away". After just a moment or two, I smiled and said "You're right" Our mother taught us to share.

So, here goes - All the shoes and hair at Vignette and In Her Shoes are now free for everyone. Future releases will also be free. The group (Vignette) will be one of the 25 allotted groups if you choose to join (to get notices and exclusive free gifts). I decided to go the easy route here to give me more building time in the long run.

I will never be the "best" hair maker or "best" shoe maker, but I DO make quality items and I never just throw things together. I have never made a profit in sl, but I do love the creative process.

One person warned me and said "but you're closing a door you can't open back up". She's right. I'm just fine with it. I figure not everyone can afford the newest releases, but they should still have easy access to quality items in central locations.

Damn shame all those really bad (and often very dated) free items in SL aren't just pulled out. As a noob, I acquired every freakin new bit of clothing I could get my hands on in the first 30 days. WOW, was THAT a mistake. My inventory became a huge mess and it seemed 90% of the free stuff was unusable. To this day my inventory still groans with bits of it.


Don't get me wrong, there are some incredible things out there but for the most part these treasures are spread so far out across the grid you may never find them.

My two newest releases are Warm Winter Boots and Toasties, please enjoy them. All the colors are found in the shop and I felt no fat packs or demos were necessary. Take the colors you like so your inventory can sleep at night.

Personally, I just love a good roleplay and props are crucial....no...they really are.

*Pompoms are great for waving under noses.
*Bobbysocks separate the sophisticated Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader types from the 18 - 21 yr old types...uh..sure - the college kids.
*Short skirt that flips up when you swing your hips at just the right guy.
*Last but not least, pig tails to hold onto (in the right situation:)

So go check out the team games in sl and start cheering (or jeering) as the case may be. I dare you to be the most annoying cheerleader of all time!

Outfit - ::: B@R ::: Cheer Leader (look among the newer release stuff in the middle of the store). BareRose outfits are always an AMAZING bargain and you always get more than you expect in the box. Green, blue, purple, red, OMGosh - This is like a 4 in one!

Shoes - PornStar Hi-Tops MultiColor v2. Yes, the might seem a tiny bit pricey but they're worth it. Touch them and you get tons of color options all rolled up into one shoe - no need for a fat pack to clutter your inventory.

Skin - :GP: Petal FREX [Light] April-Jonquil 1. I wanted something that looked natural and young.

A Taste of the 50's

50's Magic - it doesn't get better than that!

I've got about 4 stores on my "must have" list and Artilleri is one of them. The slightest hint of a release and I'm there. As you take a close look at the poodle skirt, notice all those amazing highlights and shadows (along with the way it moves when you walk) makes this one a "must have".

What a FUN pair of shoes from Jet Doll. Your 50's look wouldn't be complete without these.

Last but not least is the Jaime hair from Vignette. It gives the whole look a perky college girl feel. Jaime is only available at Hair Fair, so stop by and check out the demo. It wont be in the main store for 2 more weeks.

Hopefully now I can take the time to blog a few thing (since hair fair is underway).

Taking a break from all things hair -

I had to show off this sweet reto look from Icing. What a great way to get in the mood for July 4th! All red white and blue with a perky little sailor hat on top. I love these kinds of hats, they can pretty much set on any hair without any trouble at all.

And check out the hair - oh yes, woohoo! Made it all by myself and is only at hair fair (to be moved to the store on vignette when the fair closes). Old Shirley Temple photos inspired me on this one. Drop by hair fair and try it on.

After a long few weeks of trying to make hair, the gates have opened at Hair Fair 2009. What a great opportunity for people to see my hair! OMG SL was completely borked on opening day *cries*

Man Shed!

In building a small place like this it's important for me to keep the prim count low (44). Sure, I could have added more shadows - but would not appeal to the small land owner.

In the box is the whole set up - just plop it down and set the height.

Personally, I prefer the freedom to be creative, so in the box I have included the base of the shed, along with all the separate bits you see (crates, barrels, hay, campfire...). This way, if you like, feel free to decorate as you like.

So add your poses, plants, furniture...what have you and enjoy your "Man Shed"

Its a small place, only 10 x 20.

Indulging

After a cr@ppy week I decided to shop and indulge. I usually have limits as to how much I'll spend for one dress. $400L is generally my very top end, but this weekend I wanted to do something good for myself. This sweet Lolita outfit is $800L...yes, you heard me right.

After I coughed up the $ and put it on, I must say...it was worth it. I don't have a lot of sculpted skirts but I absolutely love this one. The bottom of the skirt is prim and flows beautifully (you get the best of both worlds). I especially like that when I move, my thigh peeks out in a very flirty sort of way. The heels came with the outfit!!! Let's not forget the tiny top hat AND the umbrella. I am proud to add this outfit to my Lolita collection.

My other indulgence was for my Sim. I saw this picnic set and just couldn't resist. I's a work of art. All sculpted and the most romantic poses *sighs*.

A little note about the Vignette sim - The snow mountain is back in place with the lovers cave - Woohoo!

ALSO showing in the vintage theater this week on Vignette is Charlie Chaplin's "The Kid" (1921). It's currently playing on a loop but feel free to tag me at anytime (and if it doesnt interupt anyone elses viewing) I would be happy to start it at the beginning for you:) The movie is one of the greatest silent films ever made.

Vintage is MORE than Fashion!

Yup - I am a lazy woman.

Someone asked if I sold my houses and I thought dang, i should. So I've added a few things to slexchange and boxed up the structures for sell at the Vignette model homes.

So am am posting these three which are now for sale.

First is the old vintage art deco movie theater, the Romana - the boxed set is mod/copy and has some sweet seats in the theater with lots of different poses. Stop by and chick it out or take a peek on slexchange.

Second is a 1920's kit home inspired by the Sears (Walton's Rest). This one will remind you of summers at grandma's when you were a kid.

Third is Summer Delight which is also inspired by the old 1920's - 30's kit homes. Check out all that incredible detail for only 111 prim - can't beat that!

What's Up?

Well - this past week I've been up at the workshop hammering and pinning upholstery. I was going for a lush vintage set, something that would bring out the diva in all of us:)

Sooo..I figured it was time to put my newest project in the store (Vignette).

1920's/Depression Schoolhouse

Hey!! A school house with character, really! This quaint 1920's school house could easily fit into other eras. It was modeled after the real thing. It's all mod and copy - so have some fun with it!

Schoolhouse: it has 2 rooms - I like to think of one room for the class and the other perhaps for administration or a lab. The center wall separates the 2 rooms but I have left a small space at the top of the wall to allow for easy camera maneuvers. The front and back entry ways to the school have great steps which would allow for a variety of scenarios. Come out and see the place before you buy if you like! (117 prim). Desks:
The box includes 7 desks - all with a different pose. These old desks were meant to hold 2 students each, but in mosts of the desks i have placed one pose and you are encouraged to find another fun pose in sl to go next to it. (21 prim each and worth it) Take a look at the photos - the benches are built in. These may be bought at Vignette at 100L$ ea, but in this packet you get all 7 for some variety. A teachers desk in not included.

Presidents:
Oh yes - had to have them - but they are removable. They go up to President Coolidge (2 prim)

Chalkboard - great eye candy! It is not scripted but adds tons of personality and sets a great mood. (3 prim)

This package is the whole deal. whether setting up for a student class or adult education / continuing education classes, this set should be looked at. $800L for everything listed above is a real deal:)

Gas???

I couldn't resist - my filling station (gas station) is now on Slexchange and can be seen in world at Vignette.

Per Wiki Answers - Gas prices in the 1920's were only .18 cents per gallon. The price of a new Chevy half-ton pickup truck was only $650. A used Ford was only $57.50 cents.

So if your looking for simpler times, a small town build or just plain eye candy, stop by and take a peek. This is a classic design of the 1920's.

Last night I was able to play catch up and list several things on slexchange, but dang - I do need to get more inventory listed there.

Thing is - I like little details. This means most items are sold in little vignettes. As an example - if you buy a 1920's stove, you will get and old kettle, cooking pot and percolator (like your grandparents had) too. I think the details set the mood. Of course it is your choice as to whether to use all of them or not. In fact, if you see something you like, it can be bought as a single item in game on Vignette. My items are not always in the store - but somewhere on the sim, so feel free to explore.

BTW - if someone can come up with some nice screen door textures for future builds - I would be sooo interested!
